I have a student in Spokane who wants to test old climbing harnesses to determine the degradation of the nylon over time. There are people who say to retire your harnesses after 3-5 years, and he wants to do a school science project testing the degradation of the harnesses. This is a request for anyone who wants to donate their old retired harnesses to a good cause, to please contact Eric Christianson at vikingclimber@gmail.com and we can arrange a donation. (Tax write-off??)

It might be easier to just test old tat. People may be more willing to donate that type of garbage than an old harness, or student could just go into the mountains and find his own.

Tat would not approximate an old harness unless said old harness was hung from a tree or bolt for several years being affected by sun, wind, rain, snow, mold, mice etc.

How about an old sport climbing harness that saw much abuse for years, three seasons in thailand and then has been retired to a plastic tub of chuff accessories for the last six years or so?

I'd gladly donate it, since I can't fit into it anymore.
