The fatter rope won't hold you back at the 5.7-5.10 range, will last longer, and cost less. actually, the fatter rope won't hold you back at all for sport or trad cragging regardless of the level... lessee...i woulda/shoulda/coulda sent that route packing except my rope was too heavy...
