davidio Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 Ok, i need to have the keyboard of my laptop cleaned out (a small row of non-functional keys) - anybody out there have a good recommendation of somebody reliable, fast and perhaps even cheap?? Thanks, david Quote
archenemy Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 This might sound stupid, but have you tried getting canned air, pushing one key down, and blowing out the chocolate chip cookie crumbs from under the keys? Of course, if the keys are on strike due to sticky coca cola dried between them, this probably won't work. Just an idea... Quote
Dru Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 pry keys off turn keyboard upside down shake it good turn rightside up replace keys. Quote
davidio Posted January 17, 2006 Author Posted January 17, 2006 I wish it was that easy . . . but compressed air doensn't cut it for this job. I do appreciate the suggestion, ms. enemy - but do you have a recommendation for me? Are you in Portland? I just hate taking my computer someplace i know nothing about . . so many pictures i don't want to find on the internet . . . Quote
jaee Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 (edited) d'oh: Smartass comments deleted when I saw laptop. however, you can still plug in a cheap keyboard for the time being. What area of PDX are you in? Might I enquire about the *ahem* composition of the impediment? Edited January 17, 2006 by jaee Quote
davidio Posted January 17, 2006 Author Posted January 17, 2006 (edited) yeah, i'm using my docking station/remote keyboard for the time being, but i'm headed on the road for a while tomorrow. I'm about to start surgery right now, we'll see how this goes . . . i live just north of the Alberta Arts District, in case you feel like assisting in the surgery. As far as what got into the computer, let's just say that somebody should have closed the lid on the machine when they were partying their face off this past weekend.
