mtnrgr
I want to climb Rainier in Early September. It will be my first time up to the summit. What is the most favorable route? What is the potential avalanche and rock fall hazards? Any beta will help.
To_The_Top
If it is your first time up and "low snow fall" you might find the DC the only option in september, mainly because RMI will keep the route in shape for thier clients, but I think they stop in september. mtnrgr
I'm mean safest. No need to die my first time up.
Yossarian
What do you mean by "favorable"? Are you looking for the easiest, safest, or most aesthetic line up the mountain?
fredrogers
IMHO, wrong year to try and climb Rainier in September. I just did the Emmons route on Monday and see it being out of season in 3-4 weeks, TBD weather. As it is, the route goes almost all the way right to Liberty Cap, crossing the rapidly opening 'scrhund at about 13,800. Not sure how much longer this, or the Corridor will be passable. my $0.02.
