beer_factor Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 I have a season pass at Stevens this year and am curious to know if there's any bouldering to be had along the Highway 2 corridor? It's sort of a long drive for me to the pass and would like to throw in some climbing when the weather permits to make the most of my time. Thanks! Quote
EWolfe Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 (edited) There's a boulder on the south side of the highway a couple of miles (?) before the index turnoff. There is also some bouldering in the new clearcut below Zeke's Wall, and also some on the trail up to the upper wall (bring brushes!) Additionally, there is a V5(?) just below the start to Godzilla across the footbridge, and the classic arete/slab to the left of Princely Ambitions on the trail. beer_factor Posted November 7, 2005 Author Posted November 7, 2005 Thank you - now I can avoid all traffic!! Quote
EWolfe Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 Further along the trail there is also Leavenworth area bouldering: Swiftwater, the new area across the footbridge S of Castle Rock (follow path for about 1/2 mile, on left), Mad Meadows, Forestland, Barneys Rubble, and Mountain Home. Have fun! Quote
lancegranite Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 There is a few grainy boulders outside of Skykomish, as well as a some new route possibilities along the highway east of town. Quote
kix Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 just look for all the bright neon signs that indicate their exact locations. you can't miss them. Quote
RuMR Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 is that the tape on the probs that you are referring to? Quote
Peter_Puget Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 Actually Rumr last time I went out bouldering along hwy 2 all the tape had either fallen off or worse faded so badly that I couldn't tell what was in or where the problem went. What ever happened to the caretaking spirit? Quote
kix Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 you didn;t see all the little arrows I chipped into the rock? Quote
kix Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 I considered painting all the holds white to give them a more permanently chalked look. Quote
Peter_Puget Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 you didn;t see all the little arrows I chipped into the rock? Carved? Scratched you mean. First they do not help at all in telling problems apart. Second, on overhanging routes you can't see them anyway. Folded tape is mandatory! I can't believe you pulled all the tape! Quote
EWolfe Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 you didn;t see all the little arrows I chipped into the rock? No, but I saw the clearcutting you did to get to the Zeke Wall boulders! Shameless! Quote
