I bought a six-pack of Snowcap, because y'all rave on it...and I didn't like it! I actually poured the bottle down the drain after two sips.

 

I don't know if I can even call myself a climber after this humiliating incident. I may have to be excommunicated from this fine community of hard-person beer connoisseurs.

 

Or punished.

do you like dark beers? or is it just snowcap you don't enjoy?

I tend to go for lighter beers--pale ales and wheats, especially. I didn't know Snowcap was a dark beer; it was too strong for me.

 

I had a similar experience with Guinness recently--bought a Costco 9-pack and ended up giving it away.

 

Maybe this time I'll learn to stick with what I know I like (with beer, anyway).

BTW - Pouring a beer out in the manner described is blatant beer abuse.

Try a Guinness at the Galway Arms in the U-district sometime. That stuff tastes like Milk it's fabulous! It's much smoother there than other places i've had it, though I have no idea why.

If you want a stout that's a bit smoother than Guiness, try a Murphys sometime. Yummy!

 

Sadly, it's hard to find here in Vancouver, but I've bought it in cans in gas stations in Washington.

mmmmm, or Oatmeal Stout, that's stuff's yummy. You just need to find the right dark beer! The bitter stuff takes a while to get used to.

I'm in Holland right now. I've developed a real taste for Duvel since I've been here; a beer I had in the States and never really got into. I also really like some of the Trippels--Westmalle, Leffe--but don't go for the Dubbels so much.
