knotzen Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 I bought a six-pack of Snowcap, because y'all rave on it...and I didn't like it! I actually poured the bottle down the drain after two sips. I don't know if I can even call myself a climber after this humiliating incident. I may have to be excommunicated from this fine community of hard-person beer connoisseurs. Or punished. (Meanwhile, anyone with a taste for Snowcap, swing by Issyquah for a free fiver.) Quote
minx Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 do you like dark beers? or is it just snowcap you don't enjoy? Quote
knotzen Posted October 31, 2005 Author Posted October 31, 2005 I tend to go for lighter beers--pale ales and wheats, especially. I didn't know Snowcap was a dark beer; it was too strong for me. I had a similar experience with Guinness recently--bought a Costco 9-pack and ended up giving it away. Maybe this time I'll learn to stick with what I know I like (with beer, anyway). Quote
roboboy Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 if you think that you're a nerd, I don't even drink beer. I guess I'm more of an ultra-nerd. I must be the last one on this site that still is holding out that sports drink actually accomplishes anything. Quote

fenderfour Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 BTW - Pouring a beer out in the manner described is blatant beer abuse. Quote
selkirk Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 Try a Guinness at the Galway Arms in the U-district sometime. That stuff tastes like Milk it's fabulous! It's much smoother there than other places i've had it, though I have no idea why. Quote
PaulB Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 If you want a stout that's a bit smoother than Guiness, try a Murphys sometime. Yummy! Sadly, it's hard to find here in Vancouver, but I've bought it in cans in gas stations in Washington. Quote
archenemy Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 I'll take the fiver. Hell, I woulda taken the 5 1/2er Quote
selkirk Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 mmmmm, or Oatmeal Stout, that's stuff's yummy. You just need to find the right dark beer! The bitter stuff takes a while to get used to. Quote
selkirk Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 I'll take the fiver. Hell, I woulda taken the 5 1/2er I thought you wanted 9 1/2? Please stop confusing me! Quote
archenemy Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 If I had the 9 1/2, I wouldn't settle for the 5 1/2. But sometimes, ya just gotta make do. Quote
Mark_Husbands Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 I'm in Holland right now. I've developed a real taste for Duvel since I've been here; a beer I had in the States and never really got into. I also really like some of the Trippels--Westmalle, Leffe--but don't go for the Dubbels so much. Quote
knotzen Posted October 31, 2005 Author Posted October 31, 2005 I'll take the fiver. We have a winner! I'll save it for ya; maybe we can hook up soon at a Pub Club, or Stone Gardens or somethin'. Quote
