chucK Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 Which event this week will come first? a) Plamegate indictments (or announcement of no indictments) link or b) The 2000th US soldier is killed in the Iraq debacle? link Quote
Greta Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 or e) All of the above......simultaneously Quote
Chaps Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 or f) you fluffers will get a life and actually do something with your lives. Quote
chucK Posted October 24, 2005 Author Posted October 24, 2005 "In the coming days, the left will broadcast -- with a muted glee that should repulse every American -- the exact moment when the Iraq War's death toll reaches 2,000 American lives. Nancy Pelosi will shoot off a press release, Howard Dean will update the DNC talking points, MoveOn.org will send out a disingenuous fundraising E-mail and Cindy Sheehan, who has already announced her plans for the event, will return to the White House to be arrested (in front of television cameras, naturally). This is pure politics, and the left is playing its hand well." From the UW Daily!!! Quote
archenemy Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 "But the public, once firmly committed to the Iraq war, is clearly becoming weary. This uncertainty likely stems from the daily reminders we're fed of the costs of war. Broadcast and print journalists have shown great skill in keeping the public informed as to what violent act occurred most recently, how many people have died and so on." Or maybe, people just don't want their kids getting killed anymore. Or maybe, people want the resources back home so they can deal with Katrina. Or maybe, they realize there are no nukes in Iraq like they were told. Or maybe, they actually can form an opinion that is anti-war no matter what the paper says. Quote
Camilo Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 Or maybe they realized that when the rationale to go to war was changed from "Iraq is an imminent threat" to "Spreading democracy around the world," they didn't really care about democracy. They just kept supporting it as a nice "fuck you" to the anti-war folks. Quote
chucK Posted October 24, 2005 Author Posted October 24, 2005 I find that UW piece a striking revelation. I never realized that politics is all political!! Whew. Quote
mattp Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 On the way home from climbing yesterday my partner told me that it is all B.S. anyway, and there is little point in trying to follow all of this because don't they all just lie anyway? He said that maybe I was right that these particular thugs in the Whitehouse are worse than average, but he still kept reverting to "all this politics is political." Quote
archenemy Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 Does he write for the UW paper? He could have a future there.... Quote
