Rat_In_Training
Hey everyone. I am considering applying for a Summit For Someone climb. This is a guided summit climb of one of 11 mountains in the US and Canada. The catch is each climber must raise $3500 in pledges. This money goes directly to Big City Mountaineers, and will provide for 5 at risk teens and one youth agency leader to participate in a Big City Mountaineers summer backpacking program. My question is if anyone on this forum would be willing to pledge $10 to $20 dollars for my climb. Thanks, Jesse

Rat_In_Training
Link for Summit for Someone http://www.summitforsomeone.org Link for Big City Mountaineers http://www.bigcitymountaineers.org/ I cannot collect any pledges till December 1, and all pledging is done online at a secure site. The money never gets into my hands. If you need more info, ask away. Thanks, Jesse

Rat_In_Training
First Choice is Mt. Olympus, Second Choice is Mt Shasta
Chriznitch
shoot, I would trade being "escorted" up a mountain for all that gear!
Rat_In_Training
Yeah, the only hard part is the $1500 deposit you have to put on the credit card now, not being able to collect pledges till december, and not getting the $1500 refunded till you raise all $3500
Kraken
Yeah, Rat, I saw a sign for this at work yesturday on the message board on the wall. You'll love Olympus, hopefully the snowfall in the olympics will be bigger this year and the moat surrounding the summit block won't be so gargantuant. Good luck on your donations! Fairweather
I climbed Olympus this past July with my kid. The "moat myth" was exactly that. A myth. Conditions were great.
