Make new friends as you climb to the top of the class!

These rock climbing seminars combine safe, knowledgeable instruction with a social, non-intimidating atmosphere. Come to just one session or come for all three!

Home to an abundance of granite walls and domes of varying difficulty, Yosemite is a Mecca for rock climbers of all abilities, from first-time climbers to veteran wall huggers. The comfortable daytime temperatures typical of September and October, as well as still-long days and fewer visitors, make Fall the perfect time for rock climbing and exploring Yosemite’s famous sights.

“Go Climb a Rock” Adventure Vacations are priced at $469 per person (plus taxes). Packages consist of the following:

Three nights’ lodging in an unheated canvas tent at Curry Village, with a maximum of three people per unit

(Singles will be paired up according to interest and compatibility)

Two days’ rock climbing instruction - see below for specifics

Meals include dinner on Sunday night, breakfast, lunch and dinner on Monday and Tuesday and breakfast on Wednesday. Breakfast and dinner will be at the Curry Village Pavilion with box lunches provided on site for both days of climbing instruction

“Go Climb a Rock” Welcome and Orientation Sunday night, meet fellow participants

Closing event, complete with dinner on the Pizza Deck at Curry Village on Tuesday night

A “Go Climb a Rock” t-shirt

To ensure participants a personalized learning environment, “Go Climb a Rock” Adventure Vacations offer three possible tracks in each session. We will combine students of varying skill levels as needed to create groups of at least 3 students per instructor. We reserve the right to combine students of varying skill levels based on the instructors' determination on how to maximize the learning experience for all.

Beginner

The Beginner track is ideal for the novice or someone who has done a little climbing but does not remember the different knots and how to belay. This is also a great refresher for someone who wants to start at the beginning. Beginner track participants will take the “Go Climb a Rock” class – a great all-day introduction to rock climbing – on Monday and the more advanced “Crack Climbing” class on Tuesday.

Little Experience

Those who have climbed a little (including in a climbing gym) and remember the knots and how to belay should sign up for the Little Experience track. Also, an adventurous person who has climbed a little and is a fast learner might prefer to take this track. Little Experience participants will do the “Crack Climbing” class on Monday and the “Anchoring” class on Tuesday.

More Experienced

The More Experienced track is for those who have climbed several times and are starting to lead. Individuals participating in this group should have taken an anchoring class at a reputable climbing school, as well as know how to belay and tie knots. This track will review “Anchoring” and “Simple Self-Rescue” on Monday, followed by “Leading and Multi-Pitch Climbing” on Tuesday.

Yeah. I'd put myself in the more experienced category, though I haven't had a lot of experience setting up anchors. I just wasn't sure if it was horribly overpriced... Also not sure what the demographic is. Is it gonna be mostly kids? hellno3d.gif I suppose I could just call and ask, huh - though I'd probably just get the big sales pitch. cantfocus.gif

If you have the bread, why not?

Because you could get 2 days private guiding and a couple nights at Camp 4 for the same price?

from whom? Same Yose Mountaineering School, or just some bum you round up and offer money to in Camp 4? grin.gif
