Buying a rope...

I'm finally looking to buy a rope and don't really know what i'm looking for. Even though its my life cheap is a big factor. I was looking at an Edelweiss Axis 10.3X 60m

For about $120 as was wondering if anyone had used this or any similar ropes. Its UIAA cert., dry treated, rated for 10 falls, and has a 6.4% elongation. Any sugestions would be awsome. I would rather spend the extra money than buy a shitty rope.

PS I plan on using it for a little bit of everything from rock to snow.

just buy the cheapest, fattest f'in rope you can. after a season of cramponing it, dragging it thru the mud and sand, running it over edges, and spilling fuel on it while you work out your system you'll be going thru all this again when you replace it....and then you'll be better understand your unique needs and preferences.

You can't go wrong with edelweiss however I thought they were kinda stiff on the handling. It's up to you what you like.

Smooth handle or great abrasion resistance. Personally I buy the rope I want even if it turns out to be a little more. To me my confidence is better when I know I am on a good line.

"Thinker" hit the nail on the head. You don't need a specialised 76.4 meter X 8.34768 mm rope for Ice Porn. All you need is the fatest cheapest piece of cord you can get your hands on. When you wear that out you will have a pretty good idea what rope you will need the next time you buy one.

Don't get sucked into the first pair of rock shoe scenario where you go out and buy a shoe 3.5 times to small for your first pair. Rather then something comfortable that you can stand around in all day.

The first rope is sort of the same thing.
