Fairweather
If you can find a copy of "Mountain Fever" by Aubrey Haines, buy it! It has this story, as well as many other first-person accounts of early Rainier climbs. You won't be able to put it down. Â Another book, that shares some of the stories in the above, is "Island in the Sky". I think The Mountaineers published it. Not as good, but it may be easier to find. knelson
Last I checked, both Amazon and B&N had the Haines book. Think it's been republished. Â -kurt
Norman_Clyde
It has been republished, I have a new edition. It's a great read, like Fairweather said. Rainier is a treasure trove of mountaineering history. Edited August 7, 2005 by Norman_Clyde
