Squid Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 Climb: -Clean Break Date of Climb: 7/24/2005 Trip Report: I was going to post a TR about heading up Clean Break this past weekend with Eric8, but when I read Layton's TR, I realized that mine would be a verbatim repeat. Without excess verbiage, here's the photo assault: Coffee-Ade, to jump-start the day I'm following the first pitch... still on the first pitch... Second pitch roofs (head up over roof, the left over corner) Random Squid sexiness Heading into pitch 6 (diagonal fist crack) Trundling through the brush toward the summit Gear Notes: Gear up to fist size, a rope. Approach Notes: We bivied at the Burgundy notch. This was a mistake. Quote
Squid Posted July 26, 2005 Author Posted July 26, 2005 great route...no need to bivi.... Exactly. We hiked in Sat. & slept at the Burgundy notch before descending and climbing Clean Break on Sunday. I'd recommend not bothering with the Burgundy notch, and just doing the thing car-to-car. Quote
klenke Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 Why is there a shoe sticking out of your ass? Squid are weird creatures. Quote
jshamster Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 If ya want to spend some time up there, the bivy 100 yds. from the start of the route is killer. Great climb! Quote
curtveld Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 I think the Silver Star Creek approach is quite a bit more direct way to CB than via Burgundy col. But you're probably not as likely to meet any mtn goats coming up that way, so it's really a matter of taste. Check your PMs Squid. Quote
