minx Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 what 4 or so climbs would you do if you had the time? looking for recommendations for less climbed climbs maybe. not crazy hard but if we're going to hike in w/a rope and a rack we might as well put them to good use. Quote
goatboy Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 Probably make camp near Temple Ridge and climb multiple peaks (not just Prussik!) Perhaps go over to the Mole and Duolith too? Always been drawn to the Flagpole as well . . . . Note: I have not personally done any of the above, that's why I'm interested in them . . . . so I'm not RECOMMENDING them, just answering your question. Good luck! - GB Quote
RideT61 Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 The Witches Tower has a fun, but fairly short, route that is 5.7 and has twin hand crack. It also has a really easy 5.4 route. Both are in the Becky Guide Quote
Bug Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 I liked the west face of the Mole. There are lots of routes to do over there and they are in a unique place (edwards? platue). I did see several other people over there too so beta was easy to come by. Quote
slothrop Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 I'd traverse Temple Ridge, or climb a bunch of routes on it from a base camp. You could do a "less-traveled traverse", starting with the NW Buttress of Colchuck Balanced Rock (5.8 and dirty, but more fun than Asstastic Pass) and finding a high route above Hel Basin, going toward Prusik. Probably wouldn't see too many people. Quote
Szyjakowski Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 witches tower or dragontail, little annapurna, prusik or temple, and mcClellum...then you have climbed something high in all four directions of the upper enchantments. Course, that is a lot of ground to cover too. Quote
archenemy Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 Minx, you saw me climb last week. I'd climb out of the car, have a beer, get back in, call it a victory. But hey, you have a great time, ya hear? Quote
cook Posted July 12, 2005 Posted July 12, 2005 I second the Boxtop idea, there is so much great climbing in that area. If I were in your situation, I'd also climb the high priest. Quote
