Big Wall Bivy??

Forgive my ignorance, but I would prefer to ask before I do anything stupid and piss people off. I am relatively new to the area, but have been getting into aid climbing quite a bit!!!

Would there be any objection for me to head up Town Crier or another climb at Index and setup a ledge halfway up or so?? I am just lookin' to get some practice hauling and just havin' some fun on a weekend jaunt big wall style.

If there is a better place, let me know. I am already planning on the Chief, but would like something a bit closer for an easy weekend jaunt.

I dont think anyone would object, unless the ledge interfered with a B-lay on a popular route like Godzilla. People set up regularly on both upper and lower wall at Index. Cheers! Alex

I agree just don't clog a route that is popular and hog the belay on a weekend and I bet you'll be fine.. By the way if I see you then promise to brew me up some coffee on the walls hehehe.

I think if you set up a ledge on a wall route no one is going to care. they are lots better than hanging belays anyways.

now if you set it up in the middle of givler's crack, then there are going to be issues (like it would mean you are a poser) - don't laugh, I saw a guy set one up on the "big pin" at lighthouse park once!
