glacier Posted May 11, 2005 Posted May 11, 2005 View from the office this afternoon: Workers injured in construction accident 02:35 PM PDT on Wednesday, May 11, 2005 KING5.com At least three people were injured in a downtown Seattle construction accident. SEATTLE - Three workers at a downtown Seattle construction site were injured Wednesday afternoon when steel beams apparently partially collapsed at a building owned jointly by the Seattle Art Museum and Washington Mutual Bank. Preliminary reports from the scene at 2nd and Union indicated that one worker was on a steel beam when it collapsed. Two other workers were also injured when they were hit by the falling steel. Firefighters and emergency medical personnel were called to the scene and the injured workers were transported them to Harborview Medical Center for treatment. The extent of their injuries was not immediately known. (Seattle PI says broken bones, nothing life threatening - but those guys were probably feeling like Wile E. Coyote) Quote
mec Posted May 11, 2005 Posted May 11, 2005 That sucks, but I'm glad no one was seriously injured. It would be scary as hell to be next to something like that when it starts to fail. Quote
archenemy Posted May 11, 2005 Posted May 11, 2005 That sucks, and I think its the building my group is supposed to move into this summer. Quote
olyclimber Posted May 11, 2005 Posted May 11, 2005 Hopefully they're fixing that lame entrance to the Art Museum with this expansion. Those grandiose stairs leading to nowhere are so retawded. Quote
archenemy Posted May 11, 2005 Posted May 11, 2005 just got the company email, it was our building. They don't have jurisdiction over the lame stairs, but I will be happy to put in a request for you. Quote
olyclimber Posted May 11, 2005 Posted May 11, 2005 That would be cool. Also, if you could maybe work with them to get some decent exhibits for once, I would really appreciate it. Quote
olyclimber Posted May 11, 2005 Posted May 11, 2005 squid, you really know how to pay a compliment, don't you. almost as good a crooning a karoake ballad. Quote
Cobra_Commander Posted May 12, 2005 Posted May 12, 2005 that is a ludicrous parking arrangement on the top of that building. Quote
