Highlander Posted October 16, 2002 Posted October 16, 2002 Take a Small rack. Lots of natural pro shrubs & trees early on. You can simul the entire route (mainly 4th class). The more difficult sections are real short. I think I did it in 5 hours car to the summit. The west ridge decent is loose but easy down climbing and probably a lot faster than rappeling the south buttress. Quote
mvs Posted October 16, 2002 Posted October 16, 2002 I second Highlander's comments. Although we rapped the buttress in less than 2 hours, good stations all the way. That might be different if it is crowded, but I'll bet you'd have the route to yourself now. It's not worth camping overnight unless you really want to hang out in the basin. Quote
Dru Posted October 16, 2002 Posted October 16, 2002 Beware of accidents as happened to Erik & SpecialEd's bro a few months back. Erik sez there is still most of a rack of cams yup there somewhere plasced as bail anchors off to the side of the route BOOTY ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote

Pat Posted October 17, 2002 Author Posted October 17, 2002 Has anyone been up to Cutthoat Peak lately? We were wondering if there is any water at the camp by the south buttress. Any beta on the route and rack needed would be appreciated. Thanks Quote
