fizicksaddict Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 I'm publishing a zine to inform people in my area that climbers actually help the enviornment more than we harm it. Anybody wanna contribute? Pretty much all related topics and opinions are welcome, all I ask is that you watch your language because I've gotten permission to use the printing equipment at the local highschool, and if you get me kicked out I'll have to pay for kinkos. You can PM me with anything you'd like to be included or just post it in this thread. Its a great way to make your opinions heard, and it'll really lend credibility to the zine if its more than just one person ranting. Thanks for your contributions! Quote
Distel32 Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 so you're in high school? cute good luck.... Quote
cracked Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 So, like, how do climbers help the environment, dude? Quote
Distel32 Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 and making trails, chalk, bolts, killing vegetation... sounds helpful to me.... climbers have impact, so does everybody... Quote
fizicksaddict Posted January 7, 2005 Author Posted January 7, 2005 thanks, guys, that'll really win the local enviormental crowd over. Well, I'm off to scrub some unsightly lichen.... Quote
olyclimber Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 I don't think anyone will argue that climbing actually helps the environment, but if you want something positive, the focus what what organizations like the Access Fund are doing, or what certaining activist climbers are doing to ensure preservation and management of popular areas. Its about responsible land use and shiz (notice how I cleverly disguised the colorful language in hip slang). Quote
layton Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 please please tell me you're not concidering using this thread as a reference. three words: VERY BAD IDEA! Quote
Billygoat Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 For the most part, climbers enjoy the mountains in their natural state and are a block of citizens that can have influence over environmental policy. That said, it is nice to have logging and mining roads for access. Not that I want any more logging or mining in untrampled places, mind you... Quote
