Dru Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 Wild granite to lance, in your neck of the woods. Bigger version of the pic is in the Gallery Quote
Rad Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 Is that the East side of the Sierras from 395? Quote
Dru Posted December 13, 2004 Author Posted December 13, 2004 no it is the Wild Granites, see Tim Toula's book. Quote
lancegranite Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 That was my screen saver for 6 months! Have never climbed there, but very interested in an trip. The WG is simply a long ways from anywhere, but plainly visible from the highway, where that photo was taken. Not many have climbed there, sounds like it was a 70/80's thing. The only guy I know who has climbed there said the bugs were really bad. Usually he expounds on the merits of climbs, so my guess that this sandbagger is really bluffing. I would be very interested in climbing out there, my thought is a larger expedition might be smarter, as the nearest town is Tonapah, 70 miles away. Quote
Dru Posted December 13, 2004 Author Posted December 13, 2004 What's the best season? Seems like April might be ideal? Quote
Distel32 Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 nevada right...??? Tonopah is near Ely, which is near IBEX Quote
bigwalling Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 I knew a bouldering comment had to be in his reply. Nothing wrong with that cause I love bouldering! Quote
Distel32 Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 well you know, associations must be made Quote
Dru Posted December 13, 2004 Author Posted December 13, 2004 well you know, associations must be made Tonopah is closer to Bishop than Ibex Quote
Dru Posted December 13, 2004 Author Posted December 13, 2004 There are also free hot springs near the Wild Granites Quote
lancegranite Posted December 15, 2004 Posted December 15, 2004 For those who would like to search out some more information about this area, you may want to look up the Arc Dome Wilderness area and the north and south twin rivers. Quote
bigwalling Posted December 15, 2004 Posted December 15, 2004 There are also free hot springs near the Wild Granites That sounds nice! Quote
