Jeebus Posted October 13, 2004 Share Posted October 13, 2004 i bought a used "Everest: Mountain without Mercy" book by Broughton Coburn (i like looking at pictures you know) and the private seller who sold it through amazon sent me a copy that is signed by Viesturs, Araceli Segarra, Jamling Norgay, a personal photo of Beck Weathers glued inside and a couple other signatures that I haven't been able to decipher yet. As a climbing enthusiast it is a pretty big deal for me...if only these people were better known to the rest of the world this might have been ebay material. just ranting coz I wanted to share my excitement. I will scan the page with the signatures and post it. help me decipher the 2 other signatures that I haven't been able to read yet. its not brashears...isn't rob schauer either. that was the team that year in 1996. Reinhold Messner's climbing accomplishments, especially his ascent of all 14 of the 8000 meter peaks have made him the world's greatest climber. What has also become evident is that he is history's greatest mountaineering author, having written over 60 books in 35 years. About twenty titles have been translated into English and all of those are listed below, including several that are quite scarce. Besides the team members already mentioned (Viesturs, Breashears, Segarra, Norgay and Schauer), there was also Sumiyo Tsuzuki, Paula Viesturs (basecamp manager), Wongchu Sherpa and Jangbu Sherpa.
