klenke
I've climbed Whitney from the Portal side. What specifically do you want to know and I'll answer for you if I can. I climbed it in late May 2002.
swaterfall
One of the mags, R&I or Climbing I#m not sure, did an article with Peter Croft on the area last year. Looked like endless crackville. If I remember right they said that most of the stuff is still waiting for FAs.
chris
Check with Wilson's in Bishop and SP Parker at Sierra Mountain Center. SP has a decent notebook of topos for the Portal.
lummox
yeah. i have. good rock. the north side is preferred. i combined 'el primero' with 'el segundo' for a bunch of pitches and not much approach time. at one time there was a guide book available the the sierra eastside. its out of print now i think. beckey did a wall lower down that canyon. no surprise there. Off_White
YOu should also consider checking out the Stonehouse Buttress in Tuttle Creek, a couple canyons south, on the south side of Lone Pine Peak.
