Juan Posted September 3, 2004 Posted September 3, 2004 I can't read this. Did you go faster than Miles Smart a few years back when he soloed it in just over 5 hours car-to-car? Sharp Quote
olyclimber Posted September 3, 2004 Posted September 3, 2004 This record is under good-faith credible dispute. Questions have now been raised challenging the validity of this ascent. Please refer to this website for more info. Quote
Eugenian Posted September 4, 2004 Posted September 4, 2004 NASCAR and motocross are about the only worse things I can think of to call a "sport" then speed "climbing". BUT, I did learn an interesting and absolutely rediculous fact from that Dan - driven website: "US mountain speed climbing raised to true sport status with my (Dan -) official speed records on the four tallest glaciated volcanoes in the continental US: Mt Shasta, Mt Rainier, Mt Hood, & Mt Adams. These glacier volcanoes provide the most vertical relief (elevation gain) and the greatest difficulty and challenge for a speed climber... they are the most challenging mountains for speed climbing in the continental US." What a freakin' joke...somebody pat that guy on the back because he is just getting loopy from having to do it so much to himself. Quote
Juan Posted September 4, 2004 Posted September 4, 2004 If what you report is true, he really is an asshole. Tell him to beat some of Colin's times on routes that require, for example, his hands. Do you suppose he knows how to do that stuff as fast? Juan Quote
philfort Posted September 4, 2004 Posted September 4, 2004 Hmm... suspiciously impressive... Can you upload the GPS tracks please? Where's Hans_Blix to comment on this!? Quote

Do you suppose he knows how to do that stuff as fast? Juan Yeah! I can't read you watch? Why is that? Have you checked w/Colin b/c he is the fastest and best climber. Quote
Eugenian Posted September 7, 2004 Posted September 7, 2004 this is awesome...I just got that the "face" in the third watch picture is Dan -'s from this page on his site: http://www.mountainspeedclimbing.org/biographies_of_speed_climbers.htm Fantastic bit of subtle photo work...and a fine joke. You can never have too many at Dan's expense... nicely done! Quote
