j_b Posted August 6, 2004 Posted August 6, 2004 swift boat "veterans for truth" start to sink a key figure in the anti-Kerry campaign, Kerry's former commanding officer, backed off one of the key contentions. Lieutenant Commander George Elliott said in an interview that he had made a ''terrible mistake" in signing an affidavit that suggests Kerry did not deserve the Silver Star" Yesterday, reached at his home, Elliott said he regretted signing the affidavit and said he still thinks Kerry deserved the Silver Star. Greg_W Posted August 6, 2004 Posted August 6, 2004 Actually, Kranish, author of that article is a shill who is writing for the Kerry campaign at the same time as he's writing for the Globe. I just heard on the radio that Elliott has issued a statement saying that Kranish misquoted him in that article. Elliott stands by his original comments. When I find a link I'll post it. Quote
j_b Posted August 6, 2004 Author Posted August 6, 2004 that would be a lot of misquoting or mischevious paraphrasing considering the number of things he is credited with saying for this article. so where is this link? Quote

Off_White Posted August 6, 2004 Posted August 6, 2004 Has anyone been able to find anyone who will admit to being a former CO of Bush, much less anyone who could even comment on his service? What's Bush's greatest claim to fame of his "military" service, that he could charm the ladies at some southern senator's re-election campaign headquarters? Quote

I heard something about it on the radio too! What I heard was the head of the anti-Kerry group claiming that the article misquoted the CO. In any event, the CO recommended the award--if these quasi-veteran activists were interested in actual truth and justice, they'd be stringing up the CO for doing that, rather than pumping him for spin fodder.
