iain Posted June 10, 2004 Posted June 10, 2004 That latest Internet Explorer flaw is totally unacceptable. There should be a federal laws prohibiting such blatant lack of security and total incompetence. But people have been saying that for years. What a P.O.S. Quote
gapertimmy Posted June 10, 2004 Author Posted June 10, 2004 i'm just sick of spyware/adware and shnat like that running rampant on computers at work here... the fact that you have to buy other software to manage patching POS stuff like IE on windows boxes is fahkin lame. the 'soft is digging their own grave imho. scott_harpell Posted June 10, 2004 Posted June 10, 2004 You wonder though if Opera was a popular if it would get as exploited as much. Perhaps they all have gaps, but with the populatiry, the integrity isn't challenged. Either way I am not using it. Quote
iain Posted June 10, 2004 Posted June 10, 2004 The only reason to use Explorer is if some poorly-designed website uses non-standards-based Explorer-specific features and you absolutely have to access it. These companies/sites should be avoided out of principle. I pity the I.T. manager who thinks Explorer is the go-to browser for his/her organization. Those suckers are always busy. Quote
gapertimmy Posted June 10, 2004 Author Posted June 10, 2004 i forgot what trade mag it was in, or if i saw it online, but there was an interesting article regarding the lack of diversity in the "internet crop"... high %'s of ms browsers and OS, and how one well written exploit can damage the ecosystem, errr electronic eco-system. pretty interesting. JoshK Posted June 10, 2004 Posted June 10, 2004 It's all about what is popular. hacks don't target macs or opera cause nobody uses it. And generally the "alternative" browsers are used by smarter folks than your typical american computer consumer...it's easiest to target the uninformed masses. Quote
