matt_m Posted May 24, 2004 Posted May 24, 2004 So as part of my semi-wasted weekend - I stopped into the REI insanity and checked out the DMM cams they now carry (Seattle). Man they're nicely put together and sick light. Too bad I have too much gear already - except in the TCU category. I've got one set of Metolius TCUs to orange but was wondering if people had experience with the DMM ones. They seemed to have smoother action and are definitely lighter. Only concern was the metal bar getting in the way. thoughts? and yes I realize that REI only has the 4CUs - I'd find the TCUs somewhere else. Ever in search of more stuff.... Quote
fenderfour Posted May 24, 2004 Posted May 24, 2004 I love my DMM 4CU's but I don't have any TCU's. Quote
selkirk Posted May 24, 2004 Posted May 24, 2004 (edited) I just picked up a few of the FCU's at pro Mountain sports and they're doing a great job so far. Watch the real small ones though, the trigger bar isn't really far enough above the bottom of the cable where the sling is attached to get your thumb under it, so you have to place your thumb on the bottom of the cable instead, and it's a wee bit less steady. Only a problem on the sizes below 1. Edited May 24, 2004 by selkirk Quote
Dru Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 someone fell on my dmm 4cu over the weekend and now the bottom loop is asymmetrical because the plastic-coated wire bent in the dirtection of loading. i don't think it makes a strength difference or anything. Quote
JoshK Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 Pro Mountain Sports has carred those DMM cams for quite a while now. I've checked them out in the store and they certainly look nice. As you said, really really light. Check them out there if you feel like supporting somebody other than REI. Quote
