Just thought I'd plug this killer MTB ride on St. Helens. I did it a few years back and it was about as good as it gets. Go up Ape Canyon, across the Plains of Abraham and down Swift Water canyon, and you get lunch half way and can water up.

Does anyone out there know a good place to do a roadside bivy the night before?

You can crash in the parking lot. We pitched a tent right outside the car in the grassy parking lot. I'm sure there are more scenic campgrounds nearby, but we got there late and I left right after the ride.

Make sure you do the fully clothed plunge into the lake after the ride.

Of course, I don't know where the start is this year, so it could all be subject to change.

WTF? you got to call their hotline for info on the rides? seems like if ya gotta website with all that other info you might as well put the ride route info on there too.

anyway, thanks for the link, AM.

Dave, there's typically 2 or 3 BBTC rides at St. Helens each summer.. you should save yer 35 bucks and just go on one of those. I'm probably gonna post one for the weekend of July 31.
