wanna show a few folks the ropes of crevasse rescue this weekend, inshahallah. would like to use an actual crevasse on hood instead of just a steep slope near t-line. have any cracks of size opened on the reid yet? does the reid ever form cracks of any depth/width? i've never been over there 'cept in the winter/early spring. reckon the 'schrund on the s side could be used but i'd worry about the gumbies plunging in ontop of me after flossing the slopes above smile.gif

recommendations?

I've heard that the crevasses over on the White River Glacier are opening; but haven't seen it in person. Makes sense, though. I flew over the west side of the mountain, and from the air yesterday, it looked pretty closed up still, but I could be wrong. If nothing else, I'll bet you'd find something on the Eliott to dump someone into...

Eliot had stuff opening up when we did the circumnav a couple weeks ago. The approach would suck though.

I don't think you're going to find much on the Reid. Saw what looked like a few splitters on White River but they didnt look big enough to do much with.

you might want to check White River. There are usually a couple whoppers that open up to the east of the top of the Palmer. Be careful poking around over there this time of year though, things often are not what they seem.
