Snowking is a great spring tour also. Here's a picture:

Here's a trip report: click me!

The Chiwaukums are great for backcountry. Lot's of open terrain and great slopes. #50 in Burgdorfers book lists it pretty accurately. When we were back there we did the full traverse from Icicle to Hwy 2 and came out via the description for #50 in Burgdorfers book. The descent off of Snowgrass is pretty cool. There is a small notch that is at the top of the glacier, from that notch there is an 1100' descent down the glacier to the lake.

Two car shuttle for Silver Peak - over the ridge and down to Annette Lake and out via trail.

Ruth Mt. - very fun ski

Vesper Peak - good moderate ski, can yo-yo if you're quick.

Glacier Peak - normal route

Mt. Ranier - Van Trump Park - camp hazard

Good suggestions so far.

I've been up Snowking...it would make an awesome tour. I

actually tried to fit in this winter but kept finding other things to do.

Ruth Mountain is awesome and the views are spectacular

On Glacier Peak, frostbite ridge is very skiable, and a much better tour than the shitkum (standard route), IMHO. The sitkum is a fun ski but not super exciting and the steep trail down from boulder basin isn't so fun. I think kennedy ridge (the way to frostbite) is more enjoyable.

The area I was in a week or so ago off the twin lakes trail north of shuksan is great too. Tomyhoi is the well known peak (the south side of it) but there is lots of much better stuff in the area. You could tour for days in there.

On tour I was thinking of is up the south side of Tomyhoi, down the north face (Dru posted a picture of this), up Larrabee, down to the saddle, up winchester, down winchester and out. thumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gif That tour would give you a couple of real nice moderatley difficult skis and some great touring terrain.

Dave, the spider glacier is neat, but I think it would only be worth it to go further. There is a tour described for northstar mountain...this would be a great tour. The lyman glacier snowfield on the other side of spider gap is a fantastic descent and the tour across the lyman lakes would be awesome. thumbs_up.gif

thumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gif for Kaleetan.. It's more of an early spring tour. Skied it two weekends ago and combined it with the Chair circumnavigation. One of the nicest tours near Snoqualmie Pass. Get it soon if you want to ski off the top as the gully will probably melt out quickly. Even if it does melt out, it's still a great tour.

Of course there's lots of good skiing once Hwy 20 opens, birthday tour, Silver Star, ect..
