JoshK Posted February 7, 2004 Posted February 7, 2004 Anybody seen hubba hubba or anything else easy in the last few days? I have a buddy who wants to try ice climbing for the first time and that seemed like a good bet. Quote
eric8 Posted February 9, 2004 Posted February 9, 2004 did hubba hubba today its alright, climbed at the millenium walls last week and one was really good from the highway the pencil is definetly not in Dury looked okay but I have never climbed it before so can't base my opinion on anything buyer beware. There is some ice in the same drainage as the pencil but higher up anyone know what those are? Quote
kurthicks Posted February 9, 2004 Posted February 9, 2004 hubba hubba had a huge glide crack in it today that was visible from the road. both climbs to the right looked better. the ice up Mountaineer creek looks alright. it was pretty warm in 11worth today, everything was melting. Quote
slothrop Posted February 9, 2004 Posted February 9, 2004 The climbs to the right are better if you think having pro detracts from the experience. Very thin... I wonder if a top-rope will reach (there is a nice tree directly above each climb)? The ice on Hubba Hubba was fat in sections, but there were holes here and there, and a mixed move or two the way eric8 and I went. Plenty of possibility for variation, though. There's a top-rope-able 15-foot freehanging icicle next to Alphabet Rock if you need something to finish off the day. Lots of dry rock, too. Quote
