YWESKI Posted January 20, 2004 Posted January 20, 2004 For all you AT skiers, what is your favorite ski for AT purpose? Input please!!!! Quote
iain Posted January 20, 2004 Posted January 20, 2004 A quality alpine ski. For touring, something light. For ripping, something heavier. I have found the Atomic R:ex fits most of what I do. It is light for an alpine ski but heavy for a traditional touring ski. It has a foam core so it will break down over time. Just depends on what you want to do with it. All skis are the same these days. At least that's the way it seems to me. Quote
Dave_Schuldt Posted January 20, 2004 Posted January 20, 2004 Short and soft. Must be able to turn in shity snow. Quote
cracked Posted January 20, 2004 Posted January 20, 2004 Short and soft. Must be able to turn in shity snow. Aren't those requirements mutually exclusive? Get a modern midfat and you'll be OK. I'm on BD Miras, and like them. Quote
russ Posted January 20, 2004 Posted January 20, 2004 Atomic: TM:EX. R:EX, R9 BD: Mira, Crossbow K2: Shuksan, World Piste Volkl: G3, G4, Outback Tua: Crossride 110, CR112 Like others said, mid-fat, not too soft Quote
gapertimmy Posted January 20, 2004 Posted January 20, 2004 Fischer Big Stix 750... woohooo dem things rip, and are on sale at sierra trading post right now for sub 300 Quote
skykilo Posted January 20, 2004 Posted January 20, 2004 Congratulations, welcome to the club. I was thinking of getting a "Big Johnson" style t-shirt made... It's easy to rip through the skanky manky deep wet when you're wielding a Big Stick . Quote
LeatherBob Posted January 21, 2004 Posted January 21, 2004 skanky manky deep wet, nobody has a bigger stick than big bad bob. Quote
gapertimmy Posted January 21, 2004 Posted January 21, 2004 yeah i've been very pleased with them so far. haven't toured on them yet, but they are considerably lighter than my other AT setup. you are very correct in saying that they like to go fast, and turn well at higher speeds. so much fun Quote
