SmokeShow Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 Anyone have a problem putting the Charlet Moser M10 on a Koflach Boot? I have the Vertical and the toe bail is too narrow to seat properly. I think if I bend it out to widen it up it will fit fine but I'm not sure if it's a good idea. Will that affect the integrity of the metal toe bail? Suggestions? I can't bend it by hand, I think I need a vice. Quote
sobo Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 ...I think I need a vice. Smoking, drinking, and chasing floozie girls are good ones to start with. Minor bending (i.e., one or two times,) involving shallow angles, of the toe bail should not contribute to long term fatigue of the metal. Repeated bending and/or sharp angles will contribute to work hardening and/or stress corrosion cracking, and that will cause it to break ultimately. Quote
Dru Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 m10= asymmetric crampon koflach = fairly symmetrical boot either bend the bail or get yourself a pair of asymmetric type boots like scarpa freneys. i use older crampons like the gRade 8 s with my Koflachs. Quote
glassgowkiss Posted January 8, 2004 Posted January 8, 2004 bend it, no problem. also make sure they are tight enough. Quote
Dru Posted January 8, 2004 Posted January 8, 2004 Suggestions? I can't bend it by hand Put it on the boot and then hammer the bail until it fits the toe. Quote
SmokeShow Posted January 12, 2004 Author Posted January 12, 2004 I was able to widen the bail by bending it out with two crescent wrenches. Didn't mangle the metal with pliers. Fits great now. Quote
