Bronco Posted December 30, 2003 Posted December 30, 2003 I noticed the heralded K2 8611 AT ski is on sale at www.sierratradingpost.com for $103. Incase any of you slackers are still shopping for skis. Quote
iain Posted December 30, 2003 Posted December 30, 2003 Anyone know if these really are identical to the atomic tourguide superlight? Quote
dryad Posted December 30, 2003 Posted December 30, 2003 Anyone know if these really are identical to the atomic tourguide superlight? Â Nope, not the same. These are bigger and heavier. The BD Arc Ascent, which I don't think they make anymore, was the same as the atomic tourguide. Â It's cool that these are available in really small sizes - 153cm is on STP. Good for the little ladies out there. Quote
sobo Posted December 31, 2003 Posted December 31, 2003 Hey dryad, shouldn't you be packing instead of shopping for skis...? Â Or surfing this site? Quote
dryad Posted December 31, 2003 Posted December 31, 2003 I'm not shopping for skis! I have the atomic tourguides and I'm excited about the fact that I actually know something for once and can answer a question. Quote
iain Posted December 31, 2003 Posted December 31, 2003 Thanks dryad. The tourguides are a sweet ski, so light yet so forgiving. I'll probably wait for those to go on sale again, but $100 and change is hard to pass up there. Quote
iain Posted December 31, 2003 Posted December 31, 2003 wow they actually have a bunch of pretty sweet skis at good prices there. Still can't afford Salomon skis at 57% off though! Quote
Rainier_Wolfscastle Posted December 31, 2003 Posted December 31, 2003 If you like to ski powder, I'd look for something with fatter dimensions. Quote
bonehead Posted January 2, 2004 Posted January 2, 2004 Bummer -- STP only offers the 153. Knew it was too good to be true. Â Having not done any AT skiing, what's the recommended ski length for a 6'2" - 210 slob like me? Intermediate downhiller. Usually I ski a 190-200, but wasn't sure the proper length for skiing with a pack or trailing a sled... Â Any advice appreciated! Quote
snoboy Posted January 3, 2004 Posted January 3, 2004 You sound about the same size as me, I'm real happy on a BD 188 Mira. Quote
bonehead Posted January 4, 2004 Posted January 4, 2004 Thanks snoboy ,,, I figured somewhere around 190 would keep me afloat and still be fun. Quote
