Necronomicon Posted December 1, 2003 Posted December 1, 2003 Why is it that my burned CDs will play on my computers at home and at work, but not on my car stereo? I burned the files as .wavs, but no dice in the automobile. Suggestions? Quote
Harry_Pi Posted December 1, 2003 Posted December 1, 2003 Hello capitalist! Many cd or dvd player will not read cd-r or cdrw discs. Your owners manual should advise you which discs are playable for you model. I have same problem. Thank you for allow commie to post. Quote
fern Posted December 1, 2003 Posted December 1, 2003 you have to convert the .wavs to CD-A format, A as in audio. Quote

ketch Posted December 1, 2003 Posted December 1, 2003 Go with ferns idea. Some cd players are multi-scan and can play whatever. Some are not but play a few variants. Other (like most car stereos) will only accept CD-A. Either change the burn or change the stereo. Quote

I use Nero for burning my mp3s to audio tracks. That's all I use in the car. You can get a 30-day trial demo for free off their website. Quote
arlen Posted December 1, 2003 Posted December 1, 2003 Some CD decks will play CD-R but not CD-RW disks. Best of my knowledge, it has to do with how deeply the bits are set into the CD. Re-writable CDs have the lowest "resolution." The CD player in my MIL's car overheated trying to play a CD-R. Quote
