tivoli_mike Posted October 27, 2003 Posted October 27, 2003 Was out there today for the first time in months and noticed that ALL the bolts for Ellie's Sweet Kiss ( a 5.10a on the Eastern Block ) were gone. Any reason why? or someone stealing hangers now? Quote
matt_warfield Posted October 27, 2003 Posted October 27, 2003 It appears that most if not all of the other routes in this area are intact and the subject climb has been completely removed (not just hangers or some of the bolts) so don't know what the scoop is. Perhaps the guidebook author will know. Quote
matt_warfield Posted October 27, 2003 Posted October 27, 2003 No, there are a few mixed pro routes in this area so no "bolt everything" strategy and the subject route looked like it should be a standard bolted sport route. It's a bit of a mystery. Quote
catbirdseat Posted October 27, 2003 Posted October 27, 2003 I think it was the Dwayner poltergeist at work. There can be no other explanation. Quote
Hiromi Posted October 27, 2003 Posted October 27, 2003 Bummer! That was my favorite route in the area. I wonder what the deal is? Quote
tivoli_mike Posted October 27, 2003 Author Posted October 27, 2003 Just got this from Garth Bruce in response: Hi MAS, I didn't know someone had removed the bolts and hangers. That's too bad. Did you noticed if any other of the routes were missing bolts or hangers? Thx for the info. -Garth So it appears we have a mystery. It was also one of my favorite routes in the area as well, nice overhang with good jugs... Quote
lummox Posted October 27, 2003 Posted October 27, 2003 and this occurs at the same time as the coronal mass ejection. coincidence? i think not. i would avoid driving in pickup trucks along country roads for a few weeks until the ufo abductions slow down. unless you want the alien anal probe. Quote
tivoli_mike Posted October 27, 2003 Author Posted October 27, 2003 Its on the "far side" of the exit by the entrance to the wash state fire fighting academy... Quote
Dave_Schuldt Posted October 28, 2003 Posted October 28, 2003 I thought so. About 5 or 6 years ago someone stole the hangers at Deception Crags - just the first ones on a bunch of routes. Quote
