Stefan Posted July 30, 2003 Posted July 30, 2003 Anybody seen or know the conditions for accessing Little Tahoma currently (7/30)? Quote
Alpinfox Posted July 30, 2003 Posted July 30, 2003 The forecast calls for choss with scattered low-lying choss in the morning with increasing choss in the evening followed by more choss. Bring a helmet, maybe two. Quote
Thinker Posted July 30, 2003 Posted July 30, 2003 I think it's safer (and more fun) as a winter climb. Quote
ski_photomatt Posted July 30, 2003 Posted July 30, 2003 Had a good look at the standard route two weekends ago from Whitman Crest. Getting to the rock looked straight forward, some snow climbing above crevasses (that I think are always there). The glacier you'd be climbing up to access the rock looked to be littered with rock fall, don't forget your helmet. Quote
Attitude Posted July 30, 2003 Posted July 30, 2003 And don't forget your Gary Busey Helmet Protector. Quote
cluck Posted July 30, 2003 Posted July 30, 2003 I was up on Little T in June and then again on Rainier a week ago so here's what I can offer: - Summerland looks completely melted out and can probably get to Meanie Crest without much snow travel. - Meanie Crest is dry and campsites are melted out - Fryingpan glacier didn't look too chopped up - lots of rockfall rounding the corner by a waterfall to the upper Whitman glacier and from the headwall above the Whitman. - The scramble above the Whitman glacier should be snow free by now Good luck!
