JoshK Posted June 13, 2003 Posted June 13, 2003 Got away with a 16oz western mounaineering highlite (40 degree rating) and an ultralight bivy on the ptarmigan traverse and slept warm every night. Never even wore my down jacket. sleeping in your clothes + hat go a long way Quote
breadbox Posted January 12, 2004 Posted January 12, 2004 Check out the Anjugliak bags (Mammut). http://www.mammut.ch/mammut/katalog.asp?view=detail&did=31&dart=3&tid=1697 I slept in a Speedlight Summer on Shasta last month in about 10 degree weather (in my belay parka and hat) - I wasn't warm but I was ok. If they come out with a bag similar to the 510g one @ around 850g, that would be the ticket. Quote
Mark_Husbands Posted January 13, 2004 Posted January 13, 2004 not 20deg., but under 2lbs. w/ pertex shell http://www.moonstone.com/d_sb.asp?id=T12570%20Regular%20/%20T12470%20Long Quote
Cpt.Caveman Posted January 13, 2004 Posted January 13, 2004 (edited) My thoughts and ramblings. If 2lbs or less between some of these bags means the trip is lost one way or the other - too cold or - too heavy... Give up and try something else. Just kidding. My techniques- I am usually cutting corners with ropes, rack, stove and fuel, crampons, ice tools, helmet (usually not bringing it), pack weight, rock shoes, boots, clothing etc. I prefer to sleep warm. I can travel cold well.. Edited January 13, 2004 by Cpt.Caveman Quote
