JGowans Posted May 7, 2003 Posted May 7, 2003 I just got issue 2 in the mail last week, and not sure what to make of it. Some cool pics and what not, but seems like a lame attempt to be high brow and panders to the tales of karma and inner serenity and all that crap. Anybody else read it? Quote
eric8 Posted May 7, 2003 Posted May 7, 2003 I sat down at the uw bookstore and read it in one sitting. The article on Donni was cool although in a way kinda of annoying because Climbing has used and abuse doing article about climbers. There are some sweet photos in there including one of Mugs on ??(he was attempting the west face of Larok??) where he is looking for pro and his face is about two inches above the crack, its a cool photo. In my opinion its better than both rock and ice and Climbing because it talks about climbing because it does waste half an issue giving me tips on how to climb valley trade routes in a day. Quote
jordop Posted May 7, 2003 Posted May 7, 2003 Photo of Stump is of a 1983 attempt on the west face of GIV. I think Alpinist rox, perfect mix of loony alpinist tales for shitter reading, insipiring trad tales evoking the spirit of the valley (see Cedar Wright's blissful capturing of the limbo of valley life), and fragments of climbing life which, although atmospheric, seem like a bit of a ripoff of a standard technique of sampling a la Harpers. specialed Posted May 7, 2003 Posted May 7, 2003 Yeah but its like $13 an issue. But I guess it still has more content than 3 or four issues of Cock and Lice Quote

faust Posted May 8, 2003 Posted May 8, 2003 I think it's totally quality. I dug the profile on Gasherbrum IV, cool idea to spotlight a peak like that. I liked all the other articles, all the mountain porn, and going more then three pages with out a FUCKING FULL PAGE AD! Quote
