To_The_Top Posted April 23, 2003 Posted April 23, 2003 So with all this talk of speed hiking, what is your best times on those training hikes? Like MT Si, Mailbox or Muir or others (like full on climbs )? I know that many dont care about going fast , but when you are trying to get into shape for whatever, some train to go fast. I always wonder how fast those runners go up Si who pass those guys in plastics and big packs with snowshoes and iceaxes. Two sides to the training issue . No timers or letters needed , but I wonder how fast some go on these hills. TTT Quote
Off_White Posted April 23, 2003 Posted April 23, 2003 That's no kind of criteria, I want to see a notary stamp embossed on your witnesses, and a Big Lou seal of approval, or I'm calling bullshit on your 17 minute Mt Si round trip. Quote
JGowans Posted April 24, 2003 Posted April 24, 2003 I've done a brisk walk up to the top of Si in 1hr 17mins. I didn't bother with round-trip cos that hurts the old knees. I reckon if I bothered to run, I can get somewhere around an hour. In fact, why not have a cc.com Si challenge with a Keg at the top and the bottom? Quote
iain Posted April 24, 2003 Posted April 24, 2003 as long as you don't swing your arms like those outtashape housewives in the suburbs around my office do. Quote

JGowans Posted April 24, 2003 Posted April 24, 2003 We used to have something called the Chunder Mile. Every 100 metres, you had to drink a pint. That's 16 pints my friends. The winner was the first one to cross the line without puking. Quote
Fence_Sitter Posted April 24, 2003 Posted April 24, 2003 nope...not ifthey are real pints... that would be 8 liters...think of 8 naglenes of water and running let alone beer! GOTTA PEE! Quote
salbrecher Posted April 25, 2003 Posted April 25, 2003 I bet a girl at work she couldn't down 3 liters of water, she was puking at 2.5 . Quote
