gapertimmy Posted April 16, 2003 Posted April 16, 2003 (edited) I'd like to do the pole pedal paddle this year, but was wondering if anyone would want to join up on a team. I'm not really gifted with xc skiing or biking for that matter, but would be happy to do any of the other legs of the race. If you are interested, and think you can hang with team snafflehound lemme know its on may 17th more info at: www.mbsef.org Edited April 16, 2003 by gapertimmy Quote
sketchfest Posted April 25, 2003 Posted April 25, 2003 Tim, I'm interested, have you pulled a team together yet, are you still interested? I could do the bike or run leg, maybe both if need be. Race on Sat, Sat night go to smiffy on Sun. Quote
gapertimmy Posted April 26, 2003 Author Posted April 26, 2003 tasty, sounds like we might have a squad, no i dont' have a team yet but you and another both said they'd be interested. I guess i could flail through the xc leg, i'll pm ya Quote
adventuregal Posted April 26, 2003 Posted April 26, 2003 Where/when is this?? I used to x-c ski race... Quote
adventuregal Posted April 26, 2003 Posted April 26, 2003 May 17. I need to learn to read... sorry... But I may be interested! Let me know if you need a skier... Quote
sketchfest Posted April 28, 2003 Posted April 28, 2003 The PPP site doesn't say what time the whole thing starts on Saturday. Am I blind or just having trouble reading? Quote
gapertimmy Posted April 28, 2003 Author Posted April 28, 2003 Ha, I can't find a start time either, i think it is around 8-9ish So if you guys want to join in we need to do so soon, the cost is $43 per person on the team. Lodging will be provided by cascadeclimbers.com as will the HC. AG- we still need a skier... if you want to do the downhill and XC that would probably work best logistically Sketch- you could do the bike leg? or maybe Jon if he is still into it Anyhow, lets try to see who is still in by this afternoon and figure sumtin out this should be a good time, we can have an sausage fest at my house afterwards and go climb at smiffy that afternoon or ski or whatever tim Quote
Fejas Posted April 28, 2003 Posted April 28, 2003 I have a canoe and I'm pretty decant with it... I've tackeled the Mackinzie from Leaburg dam down into sprungfield... what is the river like in that part of the race, and could i put some one in the head of the boat, or do I just need to weight it down with something... I'll Check to see if i can make it for the 17th, but i'm not sure right now... Quote
adventuregal Posted April 28, 2003 Posted April 28, 2003 I may be up for doing the downhill leg also... Problem is I don't have any downhill gear at the moment... I seem to have misplaced my skis, etc about a year ago. Don't ask me how... The snow was so shitty here this winter I didn't even bother to get new ones. So if someone's got gear I can use I might do it. Can someone expound a little on the difficulty of the downhill course though? I can ski, but I'm nothin special. And I'm still up for doing the xc leg!!! Quote
gapertimmy Posted April 28, 2003 Author Posted April 28, 2003 Fejas- the river leg is a joke, it is from the Colorado Bridge (near Deschutes Brewery Warehouse) and drake Park Mirror Pond. The water is glass, so the ladies can put dem big ol ... on the glass Let me know if you want to join it. I have a dandy wooden canoe that I could use but would rather not. Adventure Gal- The downhill course starts with a short run up the hill to your gear, and then a very easy groomed run. I'd say rather flat, Intermediate run (just like most of Mt. Bachelor). If you need gear, I can get you rentals for free. If fejas can do the boat leg, then I can do the downhill and the run. This would be excellent. So far Sketch is in for sure, and can hold down the bike leg, and possibly the run leg if need be. email me at tcrawford <aht>mtbachelor<daht>com with ?'s Quote

On second thought, that sounds even better. As long as Tim is supplying the house, beer, food, hot tube, running water..etc I say we drag him out and force him to reveal all his top secret, sparcely bolted climbing areas. Quote

gapertimmy Posted April 30, 2003 Author Posted April 30, 2003 the only secret crag you'll be climbing is this one E- i think you should just randomly appear neaked, wearing a richard simmons fro and yell jackass, then blow mad bong hits in the turbo racers faces. Team Snafflehound will be running with a 3' Yard of Beef HC stick from Costco. Once we cross the finish line, we will crack that bad boy open, pound it all down, and then blow HC chips all over the place Quote
adventuregal Posted April 30, 2003 Posted April 30, 2003 Hey, so when do we have to have all this stuff finalized anyways? Is there a registration deadline? Quote
