Braumeister Posted March 12, 2003 Posted March 12, 2003 Hello, all! A newbie here, looking to replace his climbing pack. I'm looking for something to fit the following bill: 1. ~3,000 c.i. for summit days & light overnighters 2. under 4 lbs. 3. space for tools 4. rugged build The North Face MG 45 seems to fit this bill--anybody have personal experience with this pack? Gotta' burn up that REI dividend... Braumeister Quote

fleblebleb Posted March 13, 2003 Posted March 13, 2003 I have had the MG 35 for 6 months, pretty much haven't used my other packs since. Works nicely for up to 2 day trips in winter, haven't tried 3. Great climbing pack, slim profile and a good feature set. Go check out the Wild Things Ice Sack at Pro Mountain Sports, I think that's a better pack in the 45 liter range. Haven't used one myself but friends rave about it. Quote
Ursa_Eagle Posted March 14, 2003 Posted March 14, 2003 I've had an Osprey Ceres 50 for about a month now, and it is everything I've wanted in a pack. It's really comfortable, 3000 in3, under 4 lbs, well built, and has lots of space for two tools, a shovel, pad, skis, snowshoes, etc. (you could take all at the same time if you really wanted to.) Check it out at: http://www.ospreypacks.com/ceres50.html Quote
