  1. Well, there was no Jack Daniels up there but I did find a Coors!
  2. Ok, well let's get something together this weekend, I will PM you guys with my phone.
  3. I was really disappointed the last time I was up there the fire hydrant was gone - I really wanted a pic of myself by that hydrant!
  4. Yeah my crevasse stuff is mostly book learning too - but weekends would be fine with me, but where could we go that wouldn't require like an entire day's hike just to get to? Hood would be good if we could take the ski lift to the top, but as I'm in seattle I'd definitely prefer somewhere closer than Hood if possible.
  5. You never know what treasures you'll find in the mailbox!
  6. The name says it, I'd prefer to get a pre-dawn start.
  7. When do you want to go? I'm on vacation so I am pretty free. Also, do you know where a good place for this would be? I'm in seattle. I'd prefer somewhere where we can get down to practicing fairly quickly and not have to hike half the day to get there, as I want to spend most of the time practicing rescue.
  8. I'd like to spend some time doing crevasse rescue practice in prep for possibly a Baker climb - let me know if anyone is interested. It would be great to get a couple people together. I have all the equipment needed for this.
  9. Looking to hike and camp out either in Snoqualmie or Stevens pass this weekend, looking for a partner. Looking to do something moderately challenging.
  10. Looking to hike and something in either Snoqualmie or Stevens on Tuesday, and possibly camp into Wednesday. Not very picky as to what it is, I just wanna get out. If you're interested, feel free to shoot a suggestion otherwise I'd be happy to come up with something. My only restriction is that if I'm driving I have a car, not a truck/SUV so I can only access trailheads that are car accessible, given the snow conditions, unless you have something better and you drive.
  11. I can't do the ice climbing today but I'd be up for another day - I can go during the week too if you can, I've got everything except the axes, but I can pick those up if I'm going to go, although I am a newbie at ice climbing, but if you want to go with someone I am up for some other time besides today.
  12. Hi Kati, I started this other thread http://cascadeclimbers.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/1094238/Seeking_Climbing_Hiking_partne#Post1094238 I'm looking for parnters as well, although I'm in Seattle and you're in Portland. If you want to set something up though PM me.
  13. Thanks for the tip Water unfortunately I"m not arriving in Seattle until tomorrow afternoon, and Allenkoe I will email you!
  14. Hello, I am in the Seattle area for the next 3 weeks, and I'm looking for some partners to do winter climbing and hiking. I live in Chicago, and I'm relatively inexperienced, however I am superbly equipped with high end gear and I did summit Hood and Adams this past summer. I'm looking for a partner to go out in the woods and mountains with, simply because it's much safer with a partner than alone. My biggest concerns are avalanches and crevasses (on glaciers), since I do not have experience with either. However, if you do, I'd love to learn. I am planning to hike up to Lake Serene this sunday, I know it's pretty easy and I've done it a number of times before but I need to get back into conditioning for the bigger stuff. I'm also open to doing something else on Sunday. Specifically, some goals I have is I'd like to climb Mt. index (never did that before, I did do Persis last summer), Mailbox Peak (did that last summer), and possibly Mt. Baker or Mt. St. Helens, depending on snow and weather conditions. I'd also be up to do Hood or Adams again. Also I am on a working vacation, so I will be available during weekdays as well as weekends. Lastly, I'd like to take a good avalanche class and a good wilderness survival class, so if anyone has any recommendations I'm all ears! Thanks, and I look forward to climbing with you soon!
  15. Anybody up for Mt. Adams south side sometime during this week?
  16. Anyone up to climb Mt. Index 7/8? Either via the Lake Serene Route, or Index Persis Traverse. Subject to the weather.
  17. Persis Index traverse should be doable - I was at Persis summit last Sunday, totally fogged in though we couldn't see shit the entire time so we didn't traverse to Index because we couldn't see - but the snow conditions are ok, just bring mountaineering boots and an axe. I'd also be up for baker possible, Z-Man I pm'd you my info.
  18. We can do Hood on 7/5, weather permitting. Adams is out, I actually learned that the cold creek campground is STILL snowed in, so until they open that (ranger station said maybe next week) I'm not doing adams. For Hood, I just looked at the routes quickly, I'd say the hogsback route. I'd drive down tomorrow and sleep in my car at the base of it, and then get a nice, early 4 AM start on Thursday, get everything done in a day. Wabot - I pm'd you my number, give me a call.
  19. Anyone up for Adams south spur 7/5? I'm in Seattle, prolly leave the night before so that we can get a nice, early start since Adams is a bit of a drive. I could also do 7/4 but I'd prefer 7/5. Of course, this is all subject to the weather.
  20. Looking for a partner to go climb some mountain in the Seattle area on Sun - prefer it to be something challenging with at least a couple thousand feet of elevation gain. I've got rope and crampons. I'm open as to what to climb, I can provide suggestions (my thoughts are Index or Snoqualmie Mtn), or if there is something you wanna do I'm game for it as well.
  21. As the title says... early AM departure.
  22. I'm on Vacation in the Seattle area until mid-july - I'm not familiar with all of the local crags but I'd love to get out and do some climbing, or even just find some belay buds for the gym. I don't climb hard stuff (I'm only about 5.6-5.7), but if you want to lead I have no problem with cleaning by going up the rope with ascenders. I've got a ton of gear, including full sets of nuts, hexes, and cams. I'd also love to do some multipitch stuff just for the experience, as long as you lead and I go up the rope with ascenders I'm cool. I've also got pulleys and a lot of other rope gear. Also looking for belay partners to go to a climbing gym for some quickies. I'm available most days including weekdays - PM me if interested.
  23. I've summited higher peaks than these, however my big limitation is I have limited ice experience, only with microspikes, no crampons, - so this will be my first time climbing with crampons. Generally speaking I'd prefer the easiest routes up. I also do not have any glacier experience. However, I do rock climb so harnesses and rope I do have plenty of experience with. 1. Baker - Looking at Eaton Glacier but conditional upon me going with someone that has glacier experience. I'd be open for one of the other, more technical routes but none of the routes here are a route I'd do alone for the first time myself. 2. Adams - South Spur Route - But open to others 3. St. Helens - Monitor Ridge - But open to others
