  1. Anyone have any beta on the avvy risk / snow conditions up there? Route finding will likely be interesting...
  2. As the title says... If you would like to join feel free
  3. Who wants to go? Prefer DC or Emmons.
  4. Rainer starting Sat 5/10 - DC or Ingraham Direct if the snow allows for it. 2 or 3 day climb. Looking for partners.
  5. I'll have to call and figure out the roads - Easton route is also an option if the road is open for that. Northwesty I'll send you a PM. Still looking for more people - so if you're interested let me know.
  6. I could perhaps do Rainier 2nd weekend of April - I'd prefer to start on Friday though. I made another post regarding doing a Baker climb that weekend but depending on if you're still looking I'd be up for switching to Rainier, or if your Rainer plans fall through we could do Baker.
  7. Looking for partners for 2 day climb of Baker April 11-12. I've previously done St. Helens, Hood, and Adams and am hoping this to be my first glacier mountain. I don't have rope team experience, if you do and you're willing to take me I'd appreciate it, if you don't I guess we'll just have to figure it out. I'd also like to do a Rainier attempt in May, this would be a great practice / getting to know each other trip for a future Rainier attempt. I'd prefer Coleman-Deming, but we can also do the Easton route if you wish.
  8. Probably countless poor bushes with my legs...
  9. Ha, I was shwacking around in the index-persis bowl last week, that STIHL would have came in really handy there! Still have a ton of bruises on my legs from that...
  10. Located in Seattle, I'm looking to climb something on Tues 2-11, if I don't find anyone I'll probably just default to mailbox for the conditioning, but if you're available for climbing and have another suggestion I'm up for it!
  11. I know this is short notice but anybody want to do Baring mountain tomorrow? I'd like an early start, be at the trailhead between 6:30 - 7 AM. I've done it in the summer, but I'd prefer a partner given the winter conditions.
  12. Hello, I'm planning to do a summer 2014 Rainier climb (when exactly is TBD), however I would rather do it with people who I've climbed some smaller stuff with first. I did Adams and Hood solo, however I can't do that on Rainier due to crevasses. I'm posting as I'm looking for people that we can go climbing with on a regular or semi-regular basis as a prep for Rainier. I feel that doing Baker would also be a good prep. Someone especially with weekday availability or lots of flexibility would be great as I do not work a regular 9-5. I have all the gear needed to do Rainier.
  13. Looking to Hike/Climb something Fri Aug 30 - haven't decided what yet, but if you want to join up let me know. I am located in Seattle, so I would prefer something in Stevens Pass, Snoqualmie Pass, or Rainier NP. Looking to summit something or do a strenuous hike.
  14. Looking to Hike/Climb something Tues Aug 20 and/or Wed Aug 21 - haven't decided what yet, but if you want to join up let me know. I will be available the afternoon of Tues and all day Wed. We could camp overnight, or just do something during the day. I would prefer something in Stevens Pass, Snoqualmie Pass, or Rainier NP. Looking to summit something or do a strenuous hike.
  15. Looking to Hike/Climb something Tues Aug 13- haven't decided what yet, but if you want to join up let me know. I am located in Seattle.
  16. Looking to Hike/Climb something Wed Aug 7 - haven't decided what yet, but if you want to join up let me know!
  17. I'm going hiking tomorrow, very early start, going to climb something. I'm thinking Mt Tenerrife (via the kamikazee trail, not the old logging road), but I'm really open to suggestions. Anyone wanting to come is welcome.
  18. Want to do a Persis-Index traverse weekend of Jul 20. Really, I just want to get to the top of Index, I've been at the top of Persis but Index has always eluded me one way or another. I'm choosing to do the Pers-Index traverse route due to ease and accessibility - I'd be up for going up to the summit via Lake Serene, however I'm not comfortable leading the 5.7 climb that would be involved (however if you want to lead, I've got all the equipment). The other option being would be going on that logging property to do directly to the index trail, but that gate is closed a lot. We could do it as a 1 or 2 day, I'm open to either. If you've got a truck or SUV too that'd be great - I've got a car, I can make it *most* of the way to the persis trailhead with it, but not all the way.
  19. I know this is short notice but - if anyone is free to climb something (mountaineer, not rock climb) let me know - I've got a few things in mind but I'd be open to doing anything, I just want to get out.
  20. Looking to get out and do something on Monday - not very picky as to what, so if you want to get out contact me with your ideas!
  21. Well this didn't work out last weekend, but I'd like to go and do the practice this Sunday if anyone else is up for it - let me know!
  22. So you would definitely recommend snow shoes over crampons?
  23. Looking to do St. Helens via Monitor Ridge sometime in the next few days - I am flexible as to the exact date. I'm in Seattle, I was going to drive down and sleep at the trailhead, then do a day climb with a very early start. In case I don't find a partner to climb with, I'll probably do it solo. I did Adams and Hood solo last summer, however I've never done a big winter climb solo. Some concerns I have, and if someone could give me some advice, I'd appreciate it: 1. Do you know if the trailhead is accessible via passenger car? 2. Given that we are likely to have snowfall in the next few days, do enough people climb Monitor Ridge in winter that I can assume to have a good bootpath? Or will I have to do trailfinding? 3. What avalanche concerns are there on monitor ridge? 4. Any weather advice?
  24. No, it was pretty firm but with the new precipation coming tomorrow who knows what will happen. But also today the sun wasn't really shining due to a high stratus layer, if that stratus layer hasn't been there I bet it would have gotten mushy.
