Hello! Has anyone been up there recently that can speak to conditions? Notably how open the crevasses are and whether route finding will be anything but fairly straightforward? I am looking at heading up there for a 1 day push on Saturday. Any insight would be appreciated! Thanks!

Millet Alpinist- Had em for four years and love em. I have worn them on hot summer east coast hikes, and up to the top of Elbrus, and lots of very cold ice climbing days. Never had cold feet or got too sweaty.

Where are you located? I am interested in the harness, locker, chalk and cookset. Let me know!

the patch of snow this weekend was about the size of a mini cooper. I doubt it will be there by this weekend. No need for boots and axes. maybe a slingshot for the goats though. There is a family with 2 baby goats that are especially fond of raining rocks on unsuspecting climbers in the gully!

While it may not be the best for sitting in the rain for 2 days, I just got a BD Firstlight, and I love it. sat through 1 day of rain, only got VERY MILDLY damp, but I haven't seam sealed mine. It doesn't come with the vestibule, but you can add one if you need it. I haven't had any trouble fitting me, another guy my size(6'2) and all our gear inside.

I'm broke as a joke, So I know the offer is not great.. but I would pay $175 to save you the trouble of ebay!

Hey Dan, My partners might be bailing on me, if so, I am in for something. How do you feel about Washington Pass? I should know for sure this evening

Fromage, I am right there with you, I live here, and I am just trying to be a gracious host... That being said, I may have lucked out, looks like they are cancelling their flights and coming back later in the summer! Warm rock here I come!

http://www.atmos.washington.edu/data/rainier_report.html I'm hoping for the best... It doesn't look good, but I am more comfortable retreating from muir where I have been before than schurman, where I have not. Just trying to map out my options, and I am wondering if the crevasses/bridges are passable, or if we should go for the DC instead.

Hello all, So I have some friends coming up from California this weekend, and they want to try to climb Rainier, the original plan was the Emmons, but based on what I am hearing/what the weather is doing, the emmons is not really in good shape right now. Conveniently, I put together a route plan for the ingraham flats from my foray up there in april, but it dawned on me that it may not be in good shape either... Has anyone been up there recently? Is the ingraham passable? Or should I suck it up and make a new route plan for the DC? thanks!

+1 I would pay for shipping -
So long story short, I got conned by a few old friends into taking a rather large group(9) up Rainier next weekend via the emmons route. Some in the party are planning on Skiing, some not. That being said, I thought it would be prudent to have Walkie talkies for when we split up, and then when I looked at how much they cost at REI, my head spun a little. Does anyone have any decent radios that I can bring? Only looking for a couple.... Some of the party already have some... Looking for a pair for around $20-50? Thanks!

Thinking of heading up tonight and climbing tomorrow AM, until I read the NWAC forecast, I have only been up there in later June, I am sort of assuming it will be a no go up that gully?

Do you think the Avy danger will be too scary on the approach?
