  1. Yeah! Cause mercenary corporations fit right in with his completely unregulated free market ideals. Why not be able to wholesale slaughter to the cheapest bidder?
  2. You my friend read wayyyyy to much Tom Clancy.
  3. I like how they're already talking about not letting the automatic military budget cuts 'trigger.' I mean only 20% of our budget goes to them...
  4. $100 New England 10.2 Dry rope at REI http://www.rei.com/product/735478/new-england-equinox-102mm-x-60m-dry-rope
  5. I think I can do that. I work a odd schedule right now, 7pm to 7am and it switches from one week working Mon/Tues, Fri-Sun with the following week only working Wed/Thurs.
  6. I climb there every so often. Been meaning to get my belay check done. But I keep going outside instead lol. What time frame would you be looking at going?
  7. I'd like to go, but Im lacking in the crevasse rescue area as well as overall experience. If possible I would like to join you guys to Camp Muir at least.
  8. Huh, didnt see that hut when I was up there, still alot of snow. Pretty cool though. So it looks like the plan is to meet up @5-530 in trout lake. Theres a diner right where Mt Adams road and 141 split that we can all meet up at or at the ranger station. My number is 757-705-8912 and my email is munkyfuzz@gmail.com if anyone needs it.
  9. I was just there in august and will have a map plus GPS handy. And Im pretty sure REI rents mountaineering boots, certain ones at least. Probably best to check online.
  10. Got crampons? If so, hiking boots and realllly warm socks and be prepared to call it a day if it doesnt work out. Could always rent boots from REI. Think there are a couple other places that have rentals as well.
  11. I do have a gps and I can either make it down there friday afternoon or early saturday.
  12. Whos all still planing on going?
  13. Ben, I would like to get an earlier start and at make it to the lunch counter. What time were you wanting to start out?
  14. Yeah there's definitely some snow probably still on the mountain. I still have a few waypoints in my gps from August so if we should be alright. Glad you posted those though. Now everyone can have them.
  15. If we're wanting to do an alpine start then you're probably going to want crampons. When I did it in august we couldve probably gone all the way to the summit in tennis shoes. I imagine in the early morning it'll be pretty icy. Hows everyone doing on tents? I was planning on just using a bivy sack w/ a good sleeping bag. Since we seem to have a decent amount of people going (which is AWESOME lol) we could split up tents if people are comfortable with that.
  16. Yeah its called a Cascades Volcano pass and you can pick one up at the Trout Lake ranger station for $15
  17. I live west of seattle so I can definitely wait for a different weather window but I do have that weekend off so if the weathers nice I'll definitely be going. I'm also fine with however many people want to go. The more the merrier. I can possibly give car rides as well.
  18. I'd be interested in joining you on Adams. I just did it in August and Im already wanting to go back up. South spur right? @Matt If its the south spur that he's wanting to do its a great route for a new guy to do. It'll be cold but its basically long hike w/ an ice axe and crampons. Nothing really technical at all.
