  1. great! thanks for the update and thanks to all the Beaconites for good stewardship. and for entertaining threads.
  2. last info in this thread before The Internet Climb-Off was that a July 15 opening seemed likely... any update to this? I can't wait to buy a Thirty Dollar Parking Pass for $35 and get out there to chop some in situ webbing anchors.
  3. great, this will include parking at Beacon Rock.
  4. a buddy of mine just moved to cleveland from portland- he's excited about being ONLY a 6 hour drive to the red river gorge.
  5. across the river at the Oasis there are some sunny sport climbs. http://mountainproject.com/v/washington/tieton_river/the_oasis/105929797 I found that the fan-shaped columns straight from the road look cool but don't climb that great- the high number of bolts are probably needed to hold the whole thing together. When/where did the bird closure get posted? Is all of Royal Columns closed?
  6. that's gotta be some kind of clubmoss or something- not a flowering plant, right?
  7. i went up the SE corner for the first time in the middle of september- it was my first time to beacon and it was great. and no, we didnt play jenga with any flake-stacks after the traverse pitch or trundle anything or cut any webbing. two things: 1. i didn't use that webbing because it was faded and unusual- i mostly wondered...who puts little stamped medals on zip-tied anchors? the state park? the boy scouts? does it mean 1908? but seriously, I mostly thought the ziptie business just made it harder to inspect. i bet the anchor-screwers of late thought they were doing everyone a service. 2. since flake-by-flake descriptions are the norm around here, where did y'all place gear when headed for the (now loose?) horn on p3? i dont think we found any great gear until well up on the slab.
  8. maybe it's been flipped left-right: hood should be on the right of adams when looking south from rainier. or it's a pre-eruption st. helens on the right!
  9. one update: http://www.carverclimbingclub.org/news-and-updates-1'>http://www.carverclimbingclub.org/news-and-updates-1 basically, you're not allowed to climb at carver unless you've ALREADY signed a waiver: no more 'memberships'/waivers will be handed out until further notice. there's also a more lengthy description of what's been going on at the front page: http://www.carverclimbingclub.org/ and other details at http://carverbouldering.blogspot.com/
  10. I've never been there- is it likely still under snow? anyone know when it dries out?
