My wife needs a new jacket and I need your help. If money was no object, what would be your choice for a 3 layer type shell climbing jacket for ice and alpine use? Lets hear your pros and cons. What would you consider to be the best? Alpha SV or ???

Like New couple year old custom made Mchale Alpine with back pocket, pad/tent pouch, extension top, water bottle/ski holders, Removable Bayonets to convert from full size to smaller (2 packs in one). By-Pass thru Harness, all of the bells and whistles. Size would be around 75 without extension, waist up to 30" and will fit from a 15 1/2 to 18" back (Small modifiction made allows for size adjustibility). Would fit best a small to medium person 5'4 - 5"10 up to 150 pounds. You can get different sized waist belts to the inch from Dan. Dan Mchale's packs are the best fitting and most comfortable pack in existance. Once you use one you will never use any others even for free, I guarantee it! I bought three pairs of Alps with the new side and tounge material for a trip around Rainier and the first day of rain everyone had cold, wet feet. My wifes EVO S were dry.

I'm considering these too and haven't found any beta on them. Just bopught three pairs of LS Alps for a circumnatigation of Mt Rainier and after one day of rain all three of us had wet, cold feet. My wife's EVO S were dry.

Has anyone used the tracking feature? How about on the wonderland or around/on Rainier?

I just tried both,overall the Nikwax and on a scale of 1-10, I think it was a 2 or 3, really didn't work or improve much at all. Then I tried the Revivex and it is a 6 or 7. Have not tried the Grangers. I have to find a place to buy it.

Thanks for the heads up. The first one I contacted him, had several emails and phone conversations, but being a busy attorney, doesn't seem to be able to find the time to oput another toghater. Too bad too as I wanted both of them. I sent shipping labels and all but... The second would be a great buy but the pack has a spine lenght of 14.5-15" for a 5'5" small person. If you see of any others please let me know. I would be happy to give a finders fee!

What is the best way to re-waterproof Gortex 2 and 3 layer climbing jackets and bags? What products work the best, wash in or spray on? Does the wash in ruin the breathability?
