Yeah, what if, what if - seriously, save it. We've been doing single payer forever. Our current system clearly blows, its unsustainable, its dragging the economy down, and here's the real cost: it makes every American worry more that we should - it's past time to make modernize the American health care system and get rid of this clusterfuck.
-
Single payer's way simpler. We've had a working version for decades - nothing new. Knowing that FW took it in the shorts because of Obamacare is yet one more reason to keep voting Dem. The boy can HOWL! Not in throw water on this typical knee/circle jerk, but eventually somebody will write an intelligent post mortem re: the ACA and I have a feeling that the blame won't all fall on the Kenyan.

One understandable bout of skepticism re the typical Obamacare bullshit and I'm stripped of all me pals and forced to watch the Perletti Brothers once again form the human centipede The story just broke yesterday. Do you see Larry, do you see what happens when you read the BBC instead of the NYT for a single morning? Mandated anti-librul rantings aside (certainly no 'blame' could be shared by health insurance lobbyists, their clients, nor their legislative toadies - you know, the ones who just...lets see...what just happened lately?). we all get to watch the latest of many trainwrecks at Dysfunction Junction unfold together. Hard to say if the public will be more pissed about having to go through an unexpected 'open enrollment' or seeing their government shut down and the world's economy ass raped without an I Love You at this point. Then again there's that pesky Big Bro thing - kind of a shared responsibility, that one. Reckon that's what elections are for. HINT: The GOP would do well to switch from a 'repeal' to a 'repair and reform' mentality, here. That would require some level of function, however. More popcorn! Oh, and Single Payer, here we come. AWD recommended.

Geeez, and you wonder why people don't like you? The reason they gave is the provision under the ACA that, for all intents and purposes, eliminates the catastrophic plan my wife and I preferred. There are other catastrophic plans. I'm on one, they haven't cancelled, it's cheap, so quit whining and spend an hour fixing your problem. Somehow, given your history, I'd wager we're not getting the *cough* full story here. Did United give you advance notice? Did they offer you alternative programs? If not, they broke the law. If so, well, go elsewhere. That's the free market for ya. You've been against single payer all along - no such cancellations are part of that world - so you'll forgive me if I find your current situation a wee bit apropos. The first thing my private insurer did was raise my rates 10% - 2 months after I signed on, so my opinion re obamacare is a bit different. As for cancellations nationwide, one, if not the, primary reason may be that ACA mandated family planning coverage conflicts with the Catholic's Ethical Religious Directives. As 20% of hospital beds nationwide - and 45% in WA - are Catholic owned, this is a huge factor, here. Even religiously neutral insurers are being heavily pressured to resists the ACAs family planning requirements. United may or may not be one of them. Perhaps they're simply taking this opportunity to cull their lower profit programs and/or customers. As for how well I'm liked, I'm all good, thanks. That some jaggoff on the innernutz doesn't like me isn't something I lose a lot of sleep over.

If United didn't give you 90 days notice, sounds like they violated the law. If they did, you've had 3 months to find a replacement plan. So get another plan, already, there are plenty to choose from. You can feel good about no longer giving your money to a company that cancelled on you.
-
Yes, I'm sure that was Obama's fault that your health care coverage got cancelled. That's the first reason I'd come up with. You might actually ask them why they cancelled before hitting FB. I'd wager the cancellation has more to do with you (payment history is a common cause) than the soshulists. The millions of folks who can no longer be cancelled when they actually get sick beg to differ. Just a thought.

Cruz is on this wife's Goldman Sachs health care plan. The couple doesn't even see why that should be an issue for anyone. Gotta love America's nouveau riche.

Ted Cruz's wife describes him as 'very strategic'. LOL

I buy 'em! Not as good as Big Man Farmz eggs perhaps, but they still make a nice omelette. Sustainability is often omitted from arguments lauding the wonders of today's factory farming. It's all about the top soil, water table, and oceans (runoff) here, and climate change (oil use) here, and factory farming doesn't make for a bright future in any one of these areas. Sure, I can bore my car out and make it go really, really fast...right up until it bursts into flame and I have no car anymore. Actually, my car threatens to do that even when parked.

Always a charmer!

We now break from our regular programming. This just up on FOX: "GOP pushing to save millions of Americans BOOTED BY OBAMACARE" LOL Obamacare will prove to be one of the most popular policies in history, and the GOP, ever on the wrong side of same, well knows it. Single payer, the inevitable end game here, will be even more popular.

The most painful part of voting NO on I522 was going against the wishes of the Dr. Bronner's Magic Soap company. Their claim of being the All In One cleaner is actually true. I stock 5 cleaners in the house - dishwasher and laundry detergents, vinegar, rubbing alcohol, and Dr. Bronners. On the flip side, it gives me great pleasure to vote against a campaign that calls for a boycott of a business that simply didn't agree with it (Safeway). Safe to say THAT one backfired. I've talked to a lot of folks that were as turned off by that self righteous attempt to squelch political speech as I was. Safeway's response? Shovel a few more million into the opposition. Brilliant! The threat of a thousand or so Birkenhobbits who've never gently padded their way into a Sketchway continuing to not do so must have resonated in the highest halls of management. Somehow I don't think chain's walking dead customer base will notice. Next up: Boycott Plaid Pantry!!!!!

A growing part of me wishes someone would just drop a nuke on Smith, then turn it into a Walmart at this point. REALLY tired of reading non-TR bullshit about the place.

You know what they say - never bring a hippy to a gun-lock fight.

All seriousness aside, one thing to note for all you Nate Silver wannabes is that Republicans mail in their ballots later than Democrats in WA on average. No one knows why these strange creatures exhibit this quirky behavior, but the effect is significant come election day (and maybe after for a too close to call situ). The GOP has tried to train its Big Tent Animals to herd early, herd often, but so far they've resisted all entreaties to just be done with it. That, and Monsanto just sent me a free Tomacco.
