Thanks, for all the beta. I've got the "Rock Climbers Guide to Squamish" but it is a bit dated at 1992. What is the best overall book for Squamish to buy now?

there are other annapurnas in the life of man I'm with ya, but not sure if the argument that it's safer on YW would hold water...

I will be dragging a various assortment of toys to enable fun on dry rock or snowy surfaces. Hoping for some dry rock though.

Thanks. Yeah, I think that is the only place I've camped in the whopping 2 times I've been passing through.

after climbing eats... what's your favorite?

No fish tacos, but there is a little hole-in-the-wall taco joint in Stevenson, WA - "La Casa de Sabor" - "The House of Flavor". Really good pork & chicken tacos. Cheap too. I have to go there once a week to get my fix. They have the BEST fresh home-made "Myan Salsa", very spicy. You usually have to ask for the Myan Salsa specifically, otherwise you will just get the standard red or green sauce. I usually get a pint of the Myan Salsa to take home. The House of Flavor is just a couple doors up from Walking Man brewery (from Walking Man, go up the stairs at the north end of the patio and take a right), which aint to bad either. We all know they have great beer at WM, but the pizza is really good as well. Walking Man was just featured as one of the top brew pubs in the world... #1 in the NW, #10 in the US & 15th in the world. Walking Man Review . Be careful, those are some BIG beers, especially the Imperial IPA. -
So, I will likely be passing through the Squish in mid April, what are the must do moderates there? Preferably 5.8-5.9, multi-pitch with reasonable approaches. As well as the best camping beta? Anyone want to give me the dime tour?

Wow, that looks pretty sketchy on some sections... Nice!!! -
No wonder the FS is broke, they spent ALL of the budget installing & monitoring these cameras. Duh...

That looks HARD, dude... That finger pocket looks pretty micro. Are you sure this is not a rock lying on the ground and your just using trick photography, crawling and your hands & knees? Nice, I hope Dwayner approved your bolt application... CareBear Approved... -

OK that is new to me. Please tell me how you rig up a solo Top Rope? Do you do that with a figure 8 to provide the friction in case of fall? Photo? Usually it is done with Gri-Gri or other auto-locking device, but there are many options. If you do some searching here, RC.com or SuperTaco, you should find plenty of info on it. JosephH has a good bit of info on the subject and is quite proficient at the art of rope soloing. I'm too lazy to dig it up for ya though.

Yeah, at least cabbages are softer than rocks & beer bottles...

Double WOW! Nice! -
So, did Mker & Ivan get yer "bootied" gear back? You'd better hope Miker got to it first, cause you know Ivan will keep it...

I've found you really need to shop around as the deals seem to be hit & miss. Also, I've had better luck using a service like Travelocity vs calling the hotels direct. Arizona Charlies is a bit of a dump but much closer to RR than the Strip and cheap. Last time I was there I got a room at the Flamingo Hilton for less than $50/nt, taxes included. BTW, Gourmet Buffet is an OXYMORON! Put it ALL on black, let it ride, winner winner, chicken dinner...

Same car. My brother loves his and I think it is an 05, maybe 06. I'm wishing I'd got one instead of another Outback.

I'll be driving my Subi Outback wagon to Anchorage from PDX, leaving around April 17th. Looking for someone to share gas/driving. Have room for some gear too. Maybe even squeeze a few days of climbing in along the way? If interested, send me a pm. Perhaps we could meet up for a cup of coffee to see if it would be a good fit... Thanks, Dave

best overall digital camera for climbing

The shot delay is pretty quick too, for a point & shoot digital, anyway. So long as you don't use the AI feature, that really slows it down... -

Love mine too but I'm on my 3rd one, all covered by warranty so far. Bill, you ever have a problem with the LCD screen disappearing when you try to take vertical oriented pics? Sure miss having the view finder as well. -
I love jamming/locking my fingers above the B-Hole on YW.
