Well, that's Rob's assertion, so you might ask him. Yes, when you purchase weapons of killing, YOU ARE THE LAST LINE OF DEFENSE. This isn't a hard concept to get. If you cannot wrap your head around the fact that it is up to you, and no one else, to keep the guns safe and secure, then you have no business owning them. What the fuck? Obviously the guns were not kept secure enough. Obviously. How can you dispute this? As tvash says, maybe the only way to have them secure enough is to not have them. I'm selling mine. Want them? Mostly shotguns. They're just not worth it anymore.

+1 Ex-wife for me. Most people don't know what the fuck they're talking about.
-
How do you know that she did not have them in a lock box? Well, we definitely know that she failed to keep them secure one way or another, didn't she? That's how responsibility works. It was her job to be responsible for those guns. She failed.
-
+1 gun owners should be held responsible if they fail to properly secure their guns. Great power, great responsibility.

I'm already hearing republican politicians seriously discussing arming kindergarten teachers as the correct solution to this problem. What the fuck is wrong with people? It makes me so angry that people are so retarded.

. I want to know what this mother was like, and if she should have owned the guns she did or not. Considering how it turned out, I'd say she should not have owned them.
-
Yeah, I can see that. It's kinda arbitrary. But then, isn't everything, kinda?
-
Well, I think there is a difference between two gang members shooting each other or jealous wives or whatever, and a bunch of 1st graders being slaughtered in class, yeah. Not all murders upset me equally. Is that wrong?

Who cares if she went to the range, she still decided to buy assault rifles, ammunition, high mag clips and body armor, and her crazy son got his hands on them.
-
Your assertions don't even jibe with your link! LOL The fact is they are still trying to understand what happened here and it's no where near as clear cut as you claim. You're right, there was no way this could have been prevented. W should arm school teachers, that's the only thing that could have helped.

Turns out his mom was a survivalist. The boy has been described by neighbors as there being "something off" about him. No friends, no social network, loner in school...just another average kid with access to assault weapons and body armor. No big. http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-201_162-57559442/the-brief-enigmatic-life-of-mass-murderer-adam-lanza/

Everything I read so far has been that the boy was intelligent, maybe autistic but not mentally disturbed, and not showing warning signs. Have you read to the contrary? The mother may have done all she could to keep the kid away from the guns. Not much you can do when you are dead, of course. Have you read to the contrary, that she provided him convenient access? How would this be prevented by legislation btw? Maybe the nanny state could install cameras in homes of people with a mentally disturbed inhabitant? Yes, I've read much about him being obviously mentally disturbed (although smart) including stories of him having a possible personality disorder. There is obviously no doubt now that he was mentally ill, right? I mean, considering what he did. Are you saying he was a normal kid and nobody saw it coming? That isnt what I've been reading. Also, he apparently killed his mother with her own gun, so its not like he grabbed the keys to the gun safe from her pocket, right?. It's a good thing she kept those guns and body armor handy, though, right? You know, for self defense. That said, if you own a gun, it's your responsibility to make sure it is secure. Period. She failed at that, and many people died. Unless he welded his way through a steel gun safe after killing her with his bare hands, I have a hard time ignoring those facts. Also, why did she need handguns, and bushmaster and body armor? Obviously, in hindsight, it wasn't such a good idea. What was her justification for taking on that kind of responsibility? It sounds like she wasn't up to the task.

Actually, most Swiss militia members aren't even issued ammo anymore.
-
Hmm, I think it would still be pretty irrelevant even still.

if you choose to own guns and then somebody steals them from you and uses them to commit a crime, you should totally be held responsible - to a greater or lesser degree depending on how irresponsible you were found to have been. Also, all guns sales/purchases should be registered and require a fresh background check. Even private sales. This would allow private, responsible citizens to play with guns but the NRA and republicans would never allow this.

The guns were stolen from his mother, after he murdered her. Was his mother the kind of person that should not have owned guns, the kind of person more legislation would even impact? If not, then your point again is off target. Yes, she lived in a house with a mentally disturbed son? She probably should not have had guns and body armor. Or at the very least they should have been secured. I wonder how hard it was for him to get at the guns. I promise you my kids could not get their hands on MY guns. Even if they killed me first.
-
Excellent point. We should just keep guns easily available. I mean, you can't escape violence anyway. School shooting like this? You can't stop them, because violence is inevitable. So let's just legalize automatic weapons and nukes. Because people will fid some way to kill each other anyway. Right? Herp derp!

Didn't he basically have no fingers or toes? That's bound to turn someone into an idiot. I read his book as a kid and found it inspiring, that's for sure. 93! He sure had a long run of it, there's something about a guy that's hard to kill that is admirable at least.
-
Good on ya, I hate it when people hate a guy until he's dead, and then talk about how great he was. The fuck? People are weird.
-
But I need mah guns to fight off tha gummint!
-
Hard to imagine sincerely comparing the dangers of biting someone's face with your teeth, and four firearms and body armor. Shit, if we're gonna outlaw nukes, might as well outlaw sticks and stones, too, right?
-
Yeah but he couldn't chew off the faces of 28 people before being stopped.

Classy, utilize a horrible tragedy as a political tool; despite the fact that you know nothing about the manner in which this individual obtained his firearms. How did I know I would find this filth on this website? You too Rob. Classless. You're right, after a tragedy like this is no time to discuss gun control. Lol! Tool. Do you actually believe the shit that come out of your mouth? Cause I sure don't. Let me guess, fuck me in my ass, right? Or improve identification of those who are unstable and put them into custody/treatment before they do harm. You should talk to your ACLU buddy about how that'd go over with his organization. Wait, never mind, it's all the gun lobby's fault that crazy people walk the streets. Or just improve identification of the insane and prevent them from buying guns, but this is clearly an objectionable idea to you
