  1. I noticed that you were on the front page. Looked awesome
  2. Up there yesterday and the road was closed.
  3. http://portland.craigslist.org/clc/spo/475131786.html Not mine or affiliated
  4. Last year I was in you same position. Wanted a ski that I can approach with and one that will work with my plastic boot. Also, I am not all that great of a skier. So, I went out and got a pair of Silvretta 404s attached to Atomic Touring Rainier 175s. Getting up the mountain everything went according to schedule. Going down, I looked like an idiot. I don't know if it is that the bindings were put on to perform more like a cross country ski or something else. I recently bought a pair of AT boots and tried them on my Atomics. Still no improvement. Maybe I really suck at skiing or I am not getting along with my Silvrettas. I am 5'10" at 185. After all this, I have purchased a real AT setup and looking forward to being able to ski again. Hope this helps. Dave
  5. I just hiked from Devils Lake up the the moraine. Here is a pic from my phone, you can decide what gear is best for you. If I was to attempt the summit, I would go with just crampons and not snowshoes. http://www.cascadeclimbers.com/plab/showphoto.php?photo=33175&size=big&cat=503 Dave
  6. I'd be game. Dave
  7. Shoot me a PM if you are interested in some company. Maybe our schedules will line up. Dave
  8. I know that there is snow on the summit and coming down to around 6000'-7000'. It hasn't snowed for a week or so and temps have been warming up. Mid 30s at night. My guess is that the summit has 12 inches of snow. Dave
  9. Where are you located? I'd be interested if you lived close to Bend Dave
  10. Be prepared for significantly less snow than what was reported to for memorial day weekend. I was there two week ago and hiked for 20 minutes before I put my skis on. I followed the hiking trail to the summit and needed to take my skis off a couple times due to too much rock. All this being said. I still had a great time and recommed it. Dave
  11. I was up at Middle last Sunday and Monday on foot with my dog. Sunday started out pretty nice and then the storm came. Monday was a complete white out and was back to the road by noon. As far as the road goes. If you have a 4runner or something comparable, you would have been able to park at the trailhead. Anything with less clearence you would have needed to park at the 10 mile mark. TH is 10.5miles. It was snowing at the TH, but nothing too bad. Basically, it was no problem getting into Middle/North Sisters. Don't know anything about 3 creek. HTH Dave
